Yemi Alade accuses media outlets of blacklisting

In a dramatic turn of events, Grammy-nominated artist Yemi Alade has publicly accused popular media outlets Clout Africa and Cool FM of blacklisting her over her absence from one of their events. Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Yemi Alade vented her frustration, alleging that both platforms had been removing her entire catalog from their rotations for a full year.

The singer, famous for hits like *Johnny*, claimed that despite her efforts to resolve the issue through phone calls and text messages, her attempts have been met with silence. Alade’s tweet underscored her belief that the media outlets were deliberately holding a grudge over her non-attendance at their event, despite her apology.

She didn’t hold back in expressing her disappointment:

"My God, BIG PASS YOUR WHOLE station @cloutafrica @CoolFMNigeria, keep on forming gate keepers and taking my songs down. NA GOD BE MY LABEL AND MANAGEMENT, we go meet for front. Fake people wey dey feel like small gods."

Continuing her remarks, Alade emphasized that her absence wasn’t intentional, reiterating that she tried to make amends, yet received no acknowledgment from the key figures behind the outlets:

"Take down my whole catalog from your stations @CoolFMNigeria and @cloutafrica … God go still give me food. You’re beefing an artist for 1 full year over your event. I didn’t go, too. I apologized and even called your oga him dey form oga no even reply my text."

Alade’s fiery statements paint a picture of a long-standing feud, fueled by what she calls “bad belle” (ill-will), accusing the outlets of holding onto a petty grievance since December 2023. Her frustration at the perceived gatekeeping from the stations was palpable, but she ended her thread with a note of defiance:

"God keep us alive hold on that beef… FAKE FAKE FAKE PEOPLE. BADBELLE IS ALLOWED."

Despite the ongoing drama, Yemi Alade remains confident that her career will thrive without the support of these media platforms, pointing to her global experiences, stating:

"My team and I have traveled round the world met with Presidents and many important people in the world … if there is a problem we resolve but @CoolFMNigeria and @cloutafrica dey form say dem no dey forgive for free show?"

This public confrontation has added a new layer of complexity to the relationship between artists and the media, raising questions about the power dynamics at play and the potential consequences of falling out with influential platforms. As tensions escalate, all eyes will be on how Clout Africa and Cool FM respond, if at all, to Yemi Alade’s accusations.
