Wumi Toriola Breaks Toyin Abraham’s Record with ‘Queen Lateefah’ Box Office Success

Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing Toyin Abraham’s box office record, cementing her position as the 2024 Box Office Champion. This honor was recently awarded by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) on behalf of the Federal Government.

Toriola’s latest film, Queen Lateefah, has grossed an impressive ₦350 million within just two months of its release in September, overtaking Abraham’s Malaika, which earned ₦302 million. The achievement places Queen Lateefah among Nollywood’s top seven highest-grossing films of all time, making it a contender to challenge the records set by Funke Akindele’s A Tribe Called Judah and Battle on Buka Street.

Expressing gratitude on Instagram, Toriola wrote, “No. 7! Queen Lateefah is still waxing strong and shining bright! Grossing ₦350M and 7th Highest Grossing Nollywood Title of All Time. Big thank you to everyone.”

This remarkable feat highlights Toriola’s growing influence in Nollywood and her ability to captivate audiences with compelling storytelling and production.
