Wizkid took me to UK for free – Chris Brown
Chris Brown expresses heartfelt gratitude to Wizkid for inviting him to perform at the O2 Arena in 2021, marking his return to the UK stage after a 10-year absence.
American singer Chris Brown has expressed deep gratitude to Nigerian superstar Wizkid, recounting an act of kindness that left an indelible mark on him. In a heartfelt post shared by Luthortv, Brown referred to Wizkid as his "brother for life" and shared how Wizkid’s generosity had a profound impact on him.
Despite Brown's extensive career performing across America, he had never graced the UK stage in over a decade—until Wizkid extended an unexpected invitation in 2021. The Nigerian artist not only invited Brown to perform at his sold-out O2 Arena concert, but he also covered all of Brown’s expenses, a gesture that moved the American star deeply.
"Wizkid invited me to my biggest stage in the UK in 10 years. I had been performing all around America but hadn't been to the UK for any show before. One day, Wiz called and told me he was setting everything up for me to come to his O2 Arena concert. He paid for everything, and I was blown away. Wizkid is my brother for life," Brown shared.
Brown’s absence from the UK stage was tied to a 2009 ban following his guilty plea in the assault case involving his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. The UK government barred his entry in 2010, preventing him from performing in the country for many years.
The 2021 O2 Arena concert, where Wizkid brought Brown on stage, marked a monumental return to the UK for the American artist, and it’s a moment Brown continues to cherish. Their bond, forged in music and mutual respect, has since touched many fans, with Brown’s gratitude serving as a reminder of the power of friendship and kindness in the industry.
