Watch Milana May’s Rituals Before 6-Hour Lake Bosomtwe Swim
Russian-born Milana May carried out unique rituals before her 6-hour swim across Lake Bosomtwe, one of Africa's largest natural lakes, to raise awareness for eco-tourism.
Milana May, a Russian-born artist and eco-advocate, recently embarked on a remarkable swim across Lake Bosomtwe, Ghana’s only natural lake, as part of an initiative to promote eco-tourism and environmental conservation. Dubbed the "Milana May Freedom Swim," this event spanned several days, with May swimming a total of 24 kilometers. Her swim, from Abono to Ankaase, was designed not just as a physical challenge but as a way to raise awareness about the fragile ecosystem of Lake Bosomtwe, which is under threat from pollution and unsustainable practices.
Milana's swim was accompanied by various rituals that reflect her deep connection to nature and spiritual energy. She believes that her ability to perform such physical feats is due to her mastery of energy work, which she calls upon during her endeavors. This swim is part of her broader mission to inspire people globally to reconnect with nature and embrace sustainable living.
Additionally, the event was supported by wellness activities, including tree planting, health screenings, and educational sessions aimed at engaging local communities around the lake.
