VeryDarkMan Declines EFCC'S Invitation, states Reasons
Verydarkman responds to EFCC's invitation after alleging Bobrisky bribed officials to avoid conviction. VDM refuses to comply, citing safety concerns, and lists demands for cooperation. Learn more about the growing controversy and public reactions.
Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has responded to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following their press release and invitation. The social media activist had previously accused the EFCC of accepting a ₦15 million bribe from popular Nigerian cross-dresser Bobrisky, claiming that this helped him avoid a laundering conviction. In response, the EFCC issued a press statement, initiating an investigation into the matter and inviting VDM to assist in Lagos.
However, VDM has declined the EFCC's invitation, citing concerns for his safety and the agency's lack of transparency in handling the situation. He emphasized that the EFCC should first investigate its own officers and Bobrisky before summoning him. Additionally, VDM laid out specific conditions for his potential cooperation: he requested a five-star hotel, first-class flight tickets, and tight security. He expressed reluctance to use his personal funds for the trip and voiced concerns that the EFCC might set him up if he complied with their request.
VDM's stance has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians supporting his claims and questioning the credibility of the EFCC in light of these bribery allegations. Some are urging the agency to provide a more transparent and thorough investigation to restore public trust.
This controversy follows Bobrisky's recent conviction for naira abuse and has further fueled skepticism toward the EFCC's operations.
