Award-winning Nigerian actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has achieved an unprecedented feat with her latest movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, setting a new standard for Nollywood on the global stage.
Ahead of its December 20, 2024, UK premiere, the film has shattered records by selling out two screens—a first for any Nigerian movie debuting in the UK.
Taking to Instagram on December 15, Akindele expressed heartfelt gratitude to her devoted fanbase, lovingly referred to as “Jenifans.” She shared, “Jenifans!!!!!!! You’ve outdone yourselves again. History made as the second screen for Everybody Loves Jenifa December 20th UK premiere is SOLD OUT.”
The film, a continuation of the iconic Jenifa series, has already set the stage for what promises to be a landmark moment in Nollywood history.
Nile Media Entertainment, the film’s international distributor, also celebrated the historic achievement, announcing in a social media post:
