Nigerian Army rescues 13 kidnapped students in Kaduna State after a fierce battle with terrorists, recovering weapons and cash. Additional operations lead to arrests and the dismantling of terrorist networks.
Troops of the Nigerian Army in Kaduna State have successfully rescued 13 kidnapped students after a fierce confrontation with terrorists in Chigbolu village, Kachia Local Government Area. The students, consisting of six males and seven females, were freed as part of a high-stakes military operation targeting violent extremist camps in the region.
In a statement shared on X, the Nigerian Army detailed the intense gunfight that led to the rescue, stating that their troops overpowered the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee. A significant cache of arms and ammunition was recovered, including an AK-47 rifle, 87 rounds of 7.63mm ammunition, four magazines, a locally fabricated rifle, and N192,220 in cash. The soldiers also seized five solar panels, mobile phones, food supplies, and clothing items.
Following the operation, the rescued victims were swiftly transported to 1 Division Medical Services and Hospital for medical evaluation and care.
In a separate operation within the same local government area, troops arrested two notorious terrorist logistics suppliers, Mallam Usman Waikili and Salisu Idris, at Kagarko village. During the arrest, the soldiers confiscated N1.3 million in cash, along with multiple SIM cards, mobile phones, ATM cards, PoS machines, and other electronic devices.
The Nigerian Army also reported a successful raid on another terrorist hideout, leading to the elimination of three insurgents, the capture of three more, and the recovery of N4 million and additional weapons.
These coordinated military efforts continue to target and dismantle terrorist networks in Kaduna State, reinforcing the army's commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.
