Troops recover weapons, rescue hostages in North West
The Nigerian Army successfully intercepts terrorist activities in Zamfara and Katsina states, recovering weapons and rescuing hostages in multiple operations.
The Nigerian Army has announced the successful interception of terrorist activities and the rescue of hostages by troops deployed across Zamfara and Katsina states. Acting on intelligence, the soldiers thwarted several terrorist operations, recovering weapons and rescuing civilians in the process.
In a statement shared on its official WhatsApp and Instagram accounts, the Army detailed the series of operations. On October 1, troops in Zamfara responded to a terrorist road blockade along the Jambako-Faru Road in Maradun Local Government Area. A fierce gunfight ensued, forcing the terrorists to retreat, leaving behind an AK-47 rifle loaded with 7.62mm special ammunition.
In a separate encounter at Gidan Isa village in Isa Local Government Area, troops overwhelmed terrorists attempting to cross the Marnona-Gudunmi-Isa Road. The operation led to the recovery of significant ammunition, including 297 rounds of 7.62mm NATO rounds, 23 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two AK-47 magazines, a motorcycle, and a mobile phone.
Further north, in Katsina State, troops swiftly responded to an attack on Damari village in Dandume Local Government Area, where terrorists had abducted three women. After a rapid pursuit, all the victims were successfully rescued and reunited with their families, highlighting the Army's ongoing commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of civilians in the region.
