Troops neutralize two bandits in Zamfara

Troops from the 1 Brigade and Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), as part of Operation Sahel Sanity II, successfully neutralized two extremists during a fierce encounter in Zamfara State.
The clash occurred on August 16, 2024, in the Unguwar Sarkin Musulmi area of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area. According to a statement released by Lt. Suleiman Omale of OPHD, the troops acted on reliable intelligence regarding violent extremist activities in the area. Upon arrival, they engaged the militants in an intense gunfight, ultimately neutralizing two of them, while the remaining bandits were forced to flee in disarray.
Following the encounter, the troops conducted a thorough mop-up operation, recovering an operational motorcycle used by the extremists. Lt. Omale confirmed that the area has been secured, with troops from Sector 1 maintaining a strong presence and conducting confidence-building patrols to ensure the safety and security of the local population.
This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Operation Hadarin Daji to combat violent extremism in the region and restore peace to affected communities.
