Train crushes 50-year-old man in Lagos
A 50-year-old man was tragically killed by a moving train in Oshodi, Lagos. Police confirm the incident, now under investigation by the Railway Police Command.
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the tragic death of a 50-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel, who was fatally struck by a moving train in Oshodi. The incident, which occurred around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday near the ARENA Shopping Complex, was brought to the attention of the authorities by the victim’s younger sister.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s spokesperson, revealed that the woman reported receiving a distressing phone call informing her that her brother had been crushed while walking along the railway tracks. In response, detectives promptly visited the scene, where they documented the incident and arranged for the body to be transferred to a public morgue for an autopsy.
The case has since been handed over to the Railway Police Command in Ebute-Metta for further investigation. The tragedy has raised concerns about pedestrian safety along Lagos' bustling railway tracks, highlighting the need for increased public awareness and enhanced safety measures around the rail corridors.
