Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has opened up about his unexpected journey into professional music.
Speaking on the ‘On The Record’ podcast, the ‘Great Nation’ crooner revealed that music began as a hobby, not a career.“I still see myself as an accidental musician. I used to sing in the choir and during morning devotions, but music wasn’t something I considered doing professionally,” Dakolo shared.
His perspective changed after winning the inaugural season of Idols West Africa in 2007, a pivotal moment that propelled him to embrace music as a career.
Reflecting on the journey, he added, “Sometimes you meet your destiny on the road you take to avoid it.” Timi Dakolo's story serves as an inspiring reminder of how unexpected opportunities can lead to fulfilling one’s true calling.
