A 70-year-old man, Malam Abu Yusuf, was tragically killed by a thunderstrike during a heavy downpour in Abocho, Kogi State, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
A tragic thunderstrike claimed the life of a 70-year-old man, Malam Abu Yusuf, in Abocho, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. The incident occurred around 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, following a heavy downpour that swept through the community.
Malam Yusuf, who was reportedly in good health before the incident, was struck by lightning while outside during the storm. His sudden death has left the Abocho community in deep shock and mourning. Dansoho Sulaiman, a resident, described the somber atmosphere, noting that such an event was unprecedented in the area.
"Yusuf was hale and hearty, but the thunderstorm claimed him. This kind of incident has never happened in Abocho before," Sulaiman remarked, adding that the community's Imam was highly regarded.
The late Malam Abu Yusuf, Imam of the Angwa community, is set to be laid to rest according to Islamic rites on Friday. His sudden passing has cast a shadow over the town, leaving residents in disbelief over the loss of a respected figure.
