The APC criticises Amaechi over recent comments regarding the economic crisis in the country
The APC has criticized former minister and governor Rotimi Amaechi for his comments on Nigeria's economic situation, calling them unpatriotic and irresponsible. The party urged Nigerians to reject any call for unrest and to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu's efforts to address the country's challenges.
The All Progressive Congress has released a statement criticising the former minister of transportation and the former governor of Rivers State Rotimi Amaechi. In the statement which was signed by the APC's National Public Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC had accused the former governor of inciting anarchy and characterised him as unpatriotic and irresponsible.
Amaechi in an interview on Tuesday with ABN tv had expressed disappointment over the current economic situation of the country and stated that he had expected more uproar from Nigerians over the economic crisis.
The APC had slammed Amaechi comments stating, "From the lavish comfort of his “proverbial glass house”, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, former Minister of Transport and Governor of Rivers state, in a recent interview, berated Nigerian youth for not protesting “high cost of living” in the country to his morbid satisfaction.
Amaechi’s comments are insensitive, god-awful and unpatriotic, coming from one of Nigeria’s longest serving and highest ranking political freeloaders - a two-term Speaker of the Rivers state House of Assembly, a two-term Governor, and a two-term Minister of Transport."
The APC had also admonished Nigerians to dismiss an call of anarchy by Amaechi or any of his partisan tribesmen and continue to support the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
