“The energy was electric,” as people stated. “You could feel her spirit in every word. She had everyone locked in.”

Tems, born Temilade Openiyi, has been on a steady rise since her breakout single “Try Me.” Her career skyrocketed internationally following her collaboration with Wizkid on “Essence.” This earned her global recognition and multiple award nominations. In 2022, she became the first Nigerian female artist to win a BET Award. She also won a Grammy for her work on Future’s “Wait for U.” This aligns with her powerful Tems performance at Dreamville Festival.

In addition to chart-topping songs and award wins, Tems has also written for global stars like Rihanna. This solidifies her place not just as a performer, but as a serious force behind the scenes in music.

While she’s mostly kept a low profile when it comes to controversies, she once made headlines in 2020 after a brief arrest in Uganda over COVID-19 protocol violations during a performance. The matter was quickly resolved. Since then, Tems has maintained a clean slate, letting her talent do the talking.

With moments like her Dreamville Fest performance, it’s clear that Tems is here to stay. Tems’ performance at Dreamville Festival was truly unforgettable.
