Suspected EFCC Officers Raid FUTMinna, Multiple Students Injured

A group of suspected armed operatives, allegedly wearing EFCC vests, stormed student lodges at the Federal University of Technology Minna (FUT Minna) in a midnight raid on September 4, 2024. The unauthorized operation, which lasted over four to five hours, left several students injured and sparked widespread panic within the university community.

The raid occurred in the Gidankwano off-campus area, where the suspected operatives, reportedly acting outside the law, forcefully broke through the main gate and smashed doors of various rooms and lodges. Students, many of whom were abruptly awakened from sleep, were harassed, battered, and violently manhandled. Gunshots were fired during the operation, and the operatives allegedly threatened to shoot anyone who resisted.

Witnesses report that the operatives, whose identities remain unverified, conducted a brutal sweep through the lodges, resulting in the forcible arrest of multiple students. The assault left students in shock and fear, especially as many of those targeted were preparing to sit for their final exams.

The incident has drawn outrage from the university community, with parents and students left in turmoil as the whereabouts of the abducted students remain unknown. In response to the raid, the Federal University of Technology Minna has suspended all academic activities indefinitely, compounding the distress of the affected students and their families.
