Stop comparing me with Olamide – Phyno tells fans
Phyno warns fans to stop comparing him to Olamide, expressing frustration over constant comparisons and urging respect for their individual legacies.
Indigenous rapper Chibuzor Azubike Nelson, popularly known as Phyno, has strongly urged fans to stop comparing him to fellow rapper and frequent collaborator Olamide, or any other artist. Over the years, fans have often drawn parallels between the two, with Phyno’s Igbo rap style being contrasted against Olamide’s Yoruba dominance in the genre.
The latest incident occurred when an X user, @TheDamiForeign, reignited the debate by asking, "When it comes to rap, who's the GOAT? Phyno versus Olamide." This post prompted an uncharacteristically sharp response from Phyno, who expressed his frustration: "Yo!!! Tf is wrong with u guys for God sake.. stop putting me up against my brother or anybody else for that matter. Do your banter with someone else.. na ala adi agba unu.. wtf."
Phyno’s reaction highlights his growing displeasure with the constant comparisons, calling for an end to the divisive rhetoric that pits him against other artists, particularly his close friend and collaborator Olamide. Fans have since engaged in discussions about respecting the individual legacies of both rappers without creating unnecessary competition.
