Speed Darlington’s lawyer cries out over Police refusal to release singer
Deji Adeyanju criticizes the Nigerian Police for ignoring a Federal High Court ruling granting Speed Darlington bail, calling it a blatant disregard for the judiciary.
Prominent lawyer Deji Adeyanju has slammed the Nigerian Police for defying a Federal High Court ruling that granted rapper Speed Darlington unconditional bail.
Speed Darlington, detained since November 27 following his re-arrest in Owerri, remains in custody despite the court's December 23 directive. The arrest reportedly stems from a petition linked to fellow artist Burna Boy.
The court’s ruling required the rapper’s legal team to present the order to the police legal department, which would then forward it to the Force Investigation Department (FID) for his release. Although the legal team has complied, the police have failed to act.
Expressing his outrage on X, Adeyanju labeled the police’s inaction as a blatant disregard for the judiciary. He stated, “The Nigerian Police have refused to release Speed Darlington a.k.a AKPI despite the explicit order of the Federal High Court. This is the height of disrespect to the judiciary.”
