Speed Darlington’s Lawyer Alleges High-Profile Interference in Detention
Singer Speed Darlington’s lawyer claims influential individuals may be prolonging his detention, as legal efforts to secure bail intensify.
Weeks after Nigerian singer Speed Darlington’s arrest and detention, his legal representative, Deji Adeyanju, suggests that powerful individuals may be influencing the delay in his release.
Adeyanju, a human rights lawyer, previously alleged a connection between Afrobeats star Burna Boy and Darlington’s arrest, though no official confirmation has been provided. Speaking to The Cable, Adeyanju expressed frustration over the police’s refusal to grant administrative bail, citing a previous bail-jumping incident.
“The police claim he cannot be granted administrative bail because he jumped bail before. However, it’s clear that significant powers are at play here,” Adeyanju said, adding that legal proceedings for court bail are underway.
Despite scheduling challenges, Adeyanju assured the public that efforts are being made to ensure Darlington doesn’t spend the holiday season in detention.
“We’ve been working tirelessly. Hopefully, after tomorrow, he will be granted bail. His prolonged detention over a civil matter is unwarranted,” he added.
The legal team remains steadfast, vowing to navigate the hurdles and secure the rapper's release.
