Skales Reflects on Inspiring Burna Boy’s Early Career
Nigerian singer Skales reveals he inspired Burna Boy early in his career, claiming their 2017 collaboration on “Temper Remix” helped Burna gain momentum.
Nigerian artist Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known as Skales, has claimed that he played a pivotal role in Burna Boy’s rise to stardom. In a recent interview with Naija FM, Skales said he featured Burna Boy on the 2017 remix of his song Temper at a time when Burna had not yet achieved widespread success.
“At the time, Burna Boy had no hit song before I featured him on Temper Remix,” Skales said. “It was after our collaboration that he started excelling. I’m not taking credit for his success, but I believe I inspired him at a point, just as he has inspired me over the years.”
The singer emphasized that collaborations are about mutual support and growth, adding, “Nobody helped anybody. We admire ourselves and decide to work together.”
This reflection highlights Skales’ belief in the impact of collaboration in the music industry and his admiration for Burna Boy’s growth over the years.
