Renowned Afro-Juju musician, Sir Shina Peters, has opened up about his ordination as a Bishop, revealing that it was in accordance with divine instructions. Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Peters recounted how God directed the leadership of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church of God to ordain him, a message received years before he eventually accepted the role.
In 2021, Peters was formally ordained as a Bishop in the Iju area of Lagos State. He shared that his consistent use of church hymns in his music and performances, which helped win souls for Christ, was cited as a key reason for the divine directive.
“The Almighty God said I should be made the first bishop in the Cherubim and Seraphim Church of God because I have been consistent in using hymns in my music,” Peters explained. “I tried to dodge the ordination for a while until God finally got me arrested.”
Reflecting on his career, Peters expressed gratitude to God for his life journey and achievements. He emphasized his fulfillment and contentment, adding that his primary prayer now is for enlightenment and grace to grow closer to God.
“There is absolutely nothing I want to ask again but to give thanks to God for my achievements. When I think about those we started this journey with who are no more, I remain grateful,” he said.
On what fans can expect next, the iconic musician hinted at a surprising new project, stating, “They should expect something unusual very soon.”
