Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has opened up about the financial hardships he endured before achieving stardom. The Elon Musk Boys crooner revealed how he took on various odd jobs to support his family, including bricklaying, painting, and plastering work.
Sharing his story on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Shallipopi recalled performing for as little as N5,000 at clubs in Benin to help his mother pay bills. He emphasized the tough realities of life in Nigeria and the determination it took to succeed.
“I’ve toured all 36 states of Nigeria, hustling to survive. I don’t know where you’re from, but you shouldn’t talk to me about shame. This country doesn’t laugh with anybody!” he wrote.
He recounted his relentless hustle: “I’ve done bricklaying, painting, and even worked at workshops. I used to sneak out at night to freestyle at Jokers club in Benin just to earn N5,000 and bring it home to my mom.”
