Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Accuses Akpabio of Sexual Advances

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has publicly accused the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, of sexual harassment during a live interview on Arise TV. This allegation follows a recent conflict between the two, which gained media attention after Akpabio assigned her a new seat in the Senate, a move she refused.

In her interview on February 28, 2025, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan explained that her difficulties within the Senate began due to her refusal to engage in a sexual relationship with Akpabio. She indicated that many people are unaware of the details surrounding her claims and mentioned that Akpabio is welcome to respond to her allegations.

Reflecting on their past, she noted that they share the same birthday and have connections that trace back to Akwa Ibom and Ikot Ekpene, specifically recalling an incident on December 8, 2023. During the interview, she recounted an exchange where Akpabio allegedly indicated that he would like to spend “quality moments” with her in his home, and she expressed concern about how her husband, who was present at the time, would react to this statement. My husband heard him and later told me not to travel abroad alone or be with the Senate President alone she told Arise TV.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s revelations have sparked significant shock and concern among the Nigerian public, raising questions about the potential implications of such behavior from the Senate President and prompting speculation about how many others may have felt pressured by similar advances.
