Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, have been charged with federal crimes, accused of defrauding businesses of over $1 million.

Federal prosecutors revealed that a Miami Grand Jury indicted the "Beautiful Girls" artist and his mother on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud each. These charges, announced on Friday, allege that Sean and Janice devised a plan to deceive multiple businesses, acquiring jewelry, luxury vehicles, and other goods without payment.

According to the prosecutors, Sean and Janice falsely claimed to have sent money transfers to pay for these high-end items, retaining the goods even after it was evident that the payments were never completed. The alleged scheme resulted in the unlawful acquisition of over $1 million in property, including a $160,000 Cadillac Escalade and $480,000 worth of jewelry.

Sean and Janice, who were arrested in May during a raid on Sean's Florida mansion, made their first appearance in federal court on Friday.

If convicted, they face severe penalties, with each count carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. With six counts against them, both mother and son could potentially face significant prison time. Sean's attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, told TMZ that they are prepared to contest the charges in federal court and are confident in their defense.
