The Rivers State Police Command confirmed on Monday, October 7, that all police officers stationed at Local Government Secretariats in the state have been withdrawn. Grace Iringe-Koko, the Police Public Relations Officer, announced that the new Commissioner of Police, Bala Mustapha, carried out the directive from the Inspector General of Police.
The withdrawal highlights the police force’s dedication to staying neutral during political changes. The statement explained that the police would only redeploy if there were major disruptions to public order. The Rivers Police Command reassured residents that they are committed to maintaining peace and acting professionally.
