Restaurant bounces out Phyna over indecent dressing
BBNaija star Phyna calls out a Lagos restaurant for denying her entry over "indecent" dressing, sparking debate on social media about dress codes and freedom of expression.
Big Brother Naija winner and media personality, Phyna, has publicly called out a Lagos restaurant after being denied entry due to her choice of outfit. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Phyna expressed her frustration, revealing that she was turned away from CALI RESTAURANT because her attire—a black, backless gown that exposed her chest and cleavage—was deemed indecent.
"So I went to have dinner at one CALI RESTAURANT, Abi what they call the place ????????????... They said I’m dressed indecently and I can’t enter. WTF!!!" she wrote, accompanied by a video showcasing her outfit.
The incident has ignited a heated debate across social media, with fans and critics clashing over the restaurant's decision. While many of Phyna’s supporters argued for her right to dress freely, others defended the establishment's dress code policy, stressing the importance of decency in certain environments.
A fan commented, “What’s wrong with the dressing? I think people are still stuck in that African mentality. Anyways, it's the restaurant's loss,” while another user remarked, “At the peak of status, decency is key. No one wants to see your breast and nyash in a business setting.”
The controversy has sparked broader discussions on freedom of expression, cultural expectations, and how businesses enforce dress codes, with Phyna standing firm in her stance against what she views as unfair treatment.
