Real Reason Why South Africans rejected me – Chidimma Adetshina
Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina, opens up about her painful experience of rejection in South Africa due to her name and addresses the controversy surrounding her nationality and her mother's legal issues.
Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina, recently opened up about a deeply emotional experience she faced in South Africa.
Adetshina, who had previously participated in the Miss South Africa pageant, withdrew after a storm of controversy erupted over her nationality and allegations against her mother by South Africa’s Home Affairs, accusing her of identity theft.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Chidimma shared the pain of feeling rejected by South Africans due to her name. “It was devastating to realize that my name made me less South African in their eyes,” she said with tears. “Living there for 23 years, it broke my heart to not be accepted in the place I’ve always called home.”
When questioned about the identity theft allegations against her mother, Adetshina chose to remain silent, acknowledging that it was a legal matter still unfolding. “All I can say is that I was born in South Africa, I am still South African, and I am proudly Nigerian,” she stated, firmly standing by her dual identity.
