“Queen Lateefah,” a film by Wumi Toriola, has achieved a remarkable milestone in Nollywood, grossing over ₦300 million and securing its position among the industry’s top box office hits. It joins high-ranking films like “Ajosepo” (₦257.2 million) and “Ajakaju” (₦252.8 million), now standing as the seventh highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time. Notably, Queen Lateefah is the most successful release outside the peak December period, solidifying its place as a major non-seasonal hit.

The film’s impressive journey began with a ₦57 million opening weekend, surpassing the ₦200 million mark within three weeks. By mid-October, its earnings had reached ₦216 million. Distributed by Cinemax and directed by Adeoluwa Owu, Queen Lateefah centers on Lateefah Adeleke, a 30-year-old woman who, despite presenting herself as a worldly high-society figure, harbors hidden truths from her past. Her life changes upon meeting Jide Rhodes, a businessman who unveils her secrets. The cast features Nollywood stars Kunle Remi, Femi Adebayo, Nancy Isime, Bimbo Manuel, Elvina Ibru, Enioluwa, and Gbugbemi Ejeye.
