Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat-Oyefeso, sadly deceased, as it was stated on the morning of September 24, 2024. The shocking and unpalatable news that saddened all her fans and the Muslim community was made available by Ilorin-based cleric Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh through the Facebook forum with a corridor of sympathy for her soul.

Rukayat was a singer of Islamic music, and her contributions towards the development of the Islamic council in Nigeria were well accepted. She also was the daughter of the popular broadcaster Rasaq Aremu Gawat, who disappeared without a trace in 2017.
