Police Summons Tonto Dikeh For Cyber Bullying
Nollywood star Tonto Dikeh faces legal scrutiny as the Nigeria Police Force investigates allegations of criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery.
The Nigeria Police Force has summoned Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh to its headquarters in Abuja as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery. The invitation, issued by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Unit, is part of a broader inquiry into several serious charges, including falsehood and criminal conversion.
The formal invitation, dated August 5, 2024, and signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police A.A. Elleman, head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, indicates that Dikeh's name has surfaced prominently in the case. The letter states, "This office is investigating a case of criminal defamation, forgery, falsehood, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion reported to the Inspector-General of Police, in which your name and others feature prominently."
Dikeh was requested to attend an interview to provide further insight into the allegations against her. She was scheduled to meet with SP Aminu Abdullahi Sokoto on August 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. The letter emphasized the importance of her cooperation in the matter.
Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi explained that the actress was invited following a petition filed against her. He clarified that Dikeh was released after her appearance and that the investigation is ongoing. "She was only invited to respond to a petition filed against her, and she has since left the unit, while the investigation continues," Adejobi stated.
This incident adds to Tonto Dikeh's history of public controversies and legal battles. As a prominent figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry, Dikeh is no stranger to the spotlight, often making headlines for both her professional achievements and personal life.
