Following an unprovoked attack by the banned Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as the "Shi'ite" group, the FCT Police command reported on Sunday that two police officers were killed and three others suffered critical knife wounds. "Persons of the Nigeria Police Force attached to FCT command at Wuse Junction by traffic light were attached and two (2) police personnel were killed, three (3) left unconscious in the hospital, and three (3) Police patrol vehicles set ablaze," stated SP Josephine Adeh, spokesman for the FCT Police Command.

"The prohibited group used machetes, knives, and homemade explosives in bottles filled with kerosene to launch an unprovoked attack on the police checkpoint." The unjustified attack on police personnel has resulted in multiple arrests, but CP Benneth Igweh, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, denounces it. "He swears to hold those responsible accountable. Now that things are under control, things have returned to normal. "More information will be shared as it becomes available."
