Police nab three suspects over killing of husband, wife in Abia
Abia State Police arrest three suspects in connection with the murder of elderly couple Jacob and Dorcas Udo in Etiti-ulo Bende, with investigations ongoing to ensure justice.
The Abia State Police Command has arrested three individuals in connection with the brutal murder of an elderly couple, Mr. Jacob Udo, 78, and his wife, Mrs. Dorcas Udo, 73, in Etiti-ulo Bende, Bende Local Government Area. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Umuahia.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Maureen Chinaka announced the arrests on behalf of the state’s Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa. According to the police, the couple was found lifeless in their compound on October 2, 2024, after reports were received at the Bende Divisional Headquarters around 8:30 a.m. Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple was discovered in a pool of blood, and several of their possessions were reported missing.
The Commissioner of Police expressed deep concern over this tragic incident, urging residents of Abia State to remain calm while assuring them that the investigation will swiftly uncover the details surrounding this heinous act to ensure justice is served. An autopsy is planned to be conducted on the victims’ remains as part of the ongoing investigation. The community mourns the loss of the Udos, emphasizing the need for enhanced security measures in the area.
