Police Nab Suspected Armed Robber in Abuja, Recover dangerous weapons
FCT Police recover a stolen Toyota Corolla in Jabi, arresting a suspect with altered registration. Authorities urge the public to report suspicious activities.
On Saturday, August 17, 2024, at approximately 12 p.m., the FCT Police Command swiftly responded to intelligence about a Toyota Corolla with registration number ABC 258 LD, which had been reported stolen at gunpoint on May 2, 2024, along the Kuje-Airport Road. The vehicle was tracked down and recovered at Ifego Guest Inn in Jabi, where it was found in the possession of a suspect identified as Michael Uke.
According to the command's spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, digital intelligence played a crucial role in locating the vehicle. The suspect had altered the vehicle's registration to AGD 146 JP in an attempt to evade detection. During a thorough search, authorities discovered various items, including a POS machine, a knife, glass-dissolving chemicals, a military jungle hat, and the vehicle's original registration number.
The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, reiterated the command's unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of FCT residents. He urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the police, providing several emergency contact numbers for immediate assistance.
