A month after Debbie Adene's murder in Akure, her driver, allegedly involved in the crime, has been arrested. Investigation continues as charges are pending.
A month after the shocking murder of Debbie Adene, a well-known caterer in Akure, Ondo State, her driver, who was allegedly involved in the crime, has finally been apprehended by the police. The driver, whose identity is yet to be revealed, had been on the run since the tragic incident, which took place in late July 2024.
Debbie Adene, 54, was brutally killed in her home on Oda Road by her driver and 17-year-old personal assistant, Philip Emmanuel, just days after celebrating her birthday. The driver, reportedly from Idanre, is believed to be the mastermind behind the heinous act.
According to Emmanuel, who had previously been arrested and paraded by the Ondo State Police Command, the duo was motivated by the cash and gifts Adene received during her birthday celebration. He confessed that the sight of the money led them to hatch a plan to murder her and steal the valuables.
While Emmanuel remains in custody at the Olokuta Correctional Centre, facing murder charges, the driver’s arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the investigation. The case is now awaiting legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) as justice moves forward in this disturbing case.
