Police invite NLC President for allegedly financing terrorists
The Nigeria Police has summoned NLC President Joe Ajaero over alleged terrorism financing and other serious charges.
The Nigeria Police Force has summoned Joe Ajaero, the National President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), for questioning in connection with allegations of terrorism financing and other serious offenses. The invitation was issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), within the Department of Force Intelligence.
The letter, signed by Adamu S. Muazu, warned that failure to comply with the summons could result in Ajaero's arrest. The IRT is currently investigating a range of charges, including criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrimes.

In response to the summons, Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), expressed his concern on his official X handle. Sowore condemned the move, labeling it as a step toward authoritarianism under President Bola Tinubu's administration. He urged Nigerians to resist what he described as the regime's growing fascist tendencies.
