Rumors that terrorists were planning to attack and kidnap students from the University of Abuja campus have been refuted by the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT, Police Command. “The Command hereby reiterates its commitment to securing and safeguarding the lives and property of residents in the FCT as adequate deployment of personnel and equipment have been implemented to enhance the security situation within the FCT, which includes the University of Abuja,” the police spokesperson said in response to the reports, which were described as “nothing but baseless publications propagated by rumor mongers aiming to create unfounded panic and apprehension among FCT residents and university community.”
