Police arrest two suspected cultists in Ogun
Ogun State Police Command arrests two suspected cultists, Abiodun Salami and Destiny Adeola, in Sango-Ota after a tip-off from residents.
The Ogun State Police Command has successfully apprehended two individuals, Abiodun Salami and Destiny Adeola, suspected of engaging in cult-related activities in Sango-Ota, Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government Area. The arrests, carried out by the Ogun State Anti-Robbery Squad, followed a tip-off from vigilant residents in Ijoko.
The command's Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed on Monday that the suspects were taken into custody on August 8, 2024. According to Odutola, Salami and Adeola, along with other members of the notorious Eiye Confraternity, had assembled at a secret location in Ijoko. Upon the arrival of the police, the group scattered, but Salami and Adeola were quickly apprehended.
During interrogation, Adeola confessed to being initiated into the Eiye Confraternity in 2022 at Atan-Otan. The police are intensifying efforts to track down the remaining members who managed to flee the scene.
Items recovered during the operation include a toy silver pistol, locally made amulets, and a quantity of suspected Indian hemp. The Ogun State Police Command remains committed to eradicating cultism and criminal activities in the region, urging the public to continue providing valuable information to aid in their efforts.
