Police Arrest Suspected Cult Leader In Ogun
Ogun State Police arrest Olamilekan Akojede, a 35-year-old cult leader of the Alora Confraternity, in Oja Odan.
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have successfully apprehended a 35-year-old suspected cult leader, Olamilekan Akojede, in Oja Odan, located in Yewa-North Local Government Area of the state. The arrest occurred on Friday at approximately 2:30 pm.
Omolola Odutola, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest, revealing that Akojede is the notorious leader of the Buccaneers Confraternity, commonly known as Alora. He had been on the police watch list due to his involvement in various criminal activities in the area. "The No. 1 leader of the Alora Confraternity, Olamilekan Akojede, who has been terrorizing Oja Odan, was apprehended today at about 1430hrs," Odutola stated. "He will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation."
Odutola emphasized the command's unwavering commitment to eradicating cultism in Ogun State and urged other cult members to reconsider their paths. "This arrest should serve as a lesson to others involved in cultism. They should embrace the amnesty program and strive to be better individuals within their families and communities," she added.
This arrest follows a recent surge in cult-related violence in the state, which has tragically claimed at least three lives in the past week.
