Peter Obi Urges Government to Reverse Latest Fuel Price Hike
Peter Obi criticizes the latest fuel price hike by the NNPCL, calling on the government to reverse the increase and provide better solutions to Nigeria's economic challenges.
The former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has voiced his opposition to the recent surge in fuel costs. He is urging the government to revise this decision. On Saturday, Obi shared his worries because the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) increased petrol prices by 14. 8%, going from ₦897 to ₦1,030 per litre.
Obi described the price hike as "unfortunate and insensitive," considering the already tough economic situation. He urged President Bola Tinubu, who is also the Minister of Petroleum, to explain the decision, offer alternatives, and most importantly, reverse the hike.
He also questioned the unclear roles of regulatory agencies and the NNPCL, stating that the President must take action for the welfare of Nigerians.
