Peter Obi under fire over comments on Bobrisky’s legal saga
Peter Obi sparks online debate with comments on Bobrisky’s legal issues, questioning Nigeria's focus on entertainers over national concerns.
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has landed in hot water following his remarks on lifestyle influencer Bobrisky’s legal issues. His appearance on *The Honest Bunch* podcast, hosted by Nedu Wazobia, has stirred up widespread conversation, with Obi addressing the nation’s fixation on the crossdresser and the ongoing drama involving personalities like Verydarkman, the Falanas, and institutions like the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Rather than engaging with the controversies directly, Obi questioned the public’s tendency to focus on such topics while more critical national matters go overlooked. With a touch of humor, he suggested that if laws favored women over men—say, setting fuel prices lower for women than men—some male critics might be tempted to adopt female attire themselves. “If tomorrow, our government says fuel is N800 for men and N400 for women, I can tell you the number of men that will wear female dress will surprise you,” he quipped.
While Obi’s joke struck a humorous note for some, it sparked a mixed reaction online, with some accusing him of subtly endorsing Bobrisky’s actions.
