The case of 28-year-old Ogubode Adedamola, a graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), has taken a tragic turn following allegations of his murder by a pastor. Adedamola, who was expected to attend his convocation on April 3, 2025, went missing on January 16, 2025, prompting concerns about family and friends.
According to reports, Evangelist Whepetoji Babaniyeh, the pastor in question, has been arrested by the police in connection with Adedamola’s disappearance. However, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated he was not aware of such an arrest.
Adedamola, who graduated in 2024 with a degree in Political Science Education and was the Chief Executive Officer of Horlar Edu Consultancy—operating on the LASU campus—was reportedly last heard from when he spoke to his girlfriend on the day he went missing. She stated that he informed her he was in front of the CCC Ileri Oluwa Parish, LASU 2, and would call her back, but that call never came.
Following her account, the police investigated the church. The pastor allegedly denied any interaction with Adedamola that day. However, further investigations revealed suspicious financial transactions. The police discovered a transfer of N1.5 million occurred on the day Adedamola went missing, with part of these funds transferred into the bank accounts of the pastor and his daughter.

Initially, the pastor denied receiving the funds but later claimed they were intended for a Thanksgiving offering after the police presented evidence. This change in story led to his detention for further questioning. Tragically, Adedamola’s body was later found buried near the church premises, alongside the recovery of a gun and an axe from the pastor.
