On Thursday morning, a section of the Five-Star pedestrian bridge on Lagos’ busy Oshodi-Apapa Expressway partially collapsed, obstructing traffic but causing no injuries. Initial investigations by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) suggest the collapse was due to an articulated truck carrying heavy equipment that struck the bridge, creating structural damage.
LASEMA has since cordoned off the area, deployed heavy machinery, and is actively clearing debris to restore safety and prevent further incidents.
