Partey's goal confirms Arsenal win against Aston Villa

Today, Arsenal did certainly exact their revenge. From here on, all the sorrow from the defeats to Aston Villa last year will be replaced with happiness.

They had to work hard for it and rely on David Raya's brilliance; it wasn't a vintage Gunners show. However, they depart Villa Park with the points thanks to goals from Thomas Partey and Leandro Trossard, the latter with his first touch.

Arsenal defeated Aston Villa 2-0 thanks to their masterful finishing. Leandro Trossard came off the bench to open the score after the Gunners controlled possession for extended periods of time. Ollie Watkins had two poor misses, the latter of which was saved brilliantly by David Raya. Next, Thomas Partey made it two from distance. Due to three Villa player injury stoppages, Bukayo Saka forced Emi Martinez into action during the first quarter's only opportunity, resulting in a stop-start start that robbed both sides of any genuine momentum.

On the 77th minute, Saka played a significant part in helping the Gunners take a 2-0 lead by passing the ball to Partey. Martinez appeared to have a chance to stop the Ghanaian's weak effort, but he was unable to do so, allowing Arsenal to secure their second goal and all three points.
