Paris 2024: Nigeria’s Kanyinsola Ajayi, Favour Ashe sprint into 100m semi-final

On Saturday, Nigerian athletes Favour Ashe bith and Kanyinsola Ajayi confirmed their places in the men's 100-meter semifinals of the 2024 Olympic Games.

In Heat 5, Ajayi outperformed himself, winning in 10.02 seconds and only missing out on Olympic champion Lamont Marcell Jacobs, who came in second in 10.05 seconds.

Ghana's Abdul-Rasheed Saminu  finished third place in 10.06 seconds.

After Thurpool Bonboon of Thailand, Oblique Seville of Jamaica, and Abdul Hakim Sani Brown of Japan in Heat 4, Ashe came in fourth. Despite this, Ashe managed to secure the final non-automatic qualifying position and move on to the semi-finals.

Adaku Nwandu, 16, came in second place behind Elizaveta Pecherskikh in the women's 50m freestyle heat. Nwandu, regrettably, was not able to make it to the final.
