According to PUNCH Sports Extra, former Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro thinks Atlanta forward Ademola Lookman is more technically proficient than his partner and Napoli attacker, Victor Osimhen.
Peseiro worked with both players on the national team and offered commentary on the most recent transfer rumors involving both players. Peseiro led Nigeria to a second-place finish at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast earlier this year.
In the last week, Lookman and Osimhen have surfaced as possible additions to Arsenal, and Peseiro has discussed the reasons why the team ought to sign either player. "Ademola is more skilled than Osimhen, has a stronger desire to design the game, and is now a scorer as well. This year, he is doing really well, Peseiro told Football London's SportItalia.
"He grew up with Gian Piero Gasperini, the manager of Atalanta; we are thrilled that he is playing all the time today. High level, he is capable of greatness as well. The fact that they have both grown this year is no coincidence. This is a result of the fact that they both play within sound systems. Both Napoli and Atalanta want the ball so they can play and attack. This is how players become enthusiastic under these circumstances. The last several years have seen significant changes in Italian football. According to SportItalia this week, Arsenal is reportedly pondering a whopping £42.5 million bid in addition to defender Jakub Kiwior to entice Atalanta to let Go of Lookman. Despite his impending transfer to PSG, which led to his being benched for the Italian, he now has a player-plus-cash agreement.
It's unclear if Serie A winner Osimhen would sign with Arsenal or their London rivals Chelsea, who are rumored to be in negotiations with Napoli to finalize the deal. Arsenal was reportedly back in the running to sign the Nigerian striker.
