France successfully defended their Tokyo championship in men's volleyball by defeating Poland with a commanding lead. Chants of "Allez Les Bleus" and La Marseillaise, the national anthem of France, reverberated throughout the arena during the third set as the passionate French supporters saw their side secure a commanding victory to win gold.

As France won the gold in straight sets—winning the three sets 25-19, 25-20, and 25-23—Jean Patry, who scored a game-high 17 points, and Trevor Clevenot stood out. Poland had saved four match points to incite tension in the crowd before the pressure became too much. In this event, Team USA won the bronze medal.
