Okocha Reveals Amaechi's Hideous Plans For Rivers State
Tony Okocha, former APC Caretaker Chairman in Rivers State, accuses Rotimi Amaechi of plotting to hijack the party to oppose President Tinubu in 2027, vowing to prevent it.
Tony Okocha, the recently ousted Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has accused former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, of attempting to take control of the party in the state to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Okocha expressed his determination to prevent Amaechi and his alleged ally, Emeka Beke, from succeeding in their plans against Tinubu. His comments followed a court ruling on August 15, which removed Okocha's caretaker committee and reinstated Beke as the APC Chairman in Rivers State.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Okocha criticized the decision to appoint Beke as chairman, questioning his qualifications and suggesting that Amaechi had chosen him as a puppet to carry out his agenda. "It’s clear that the intention was to have a compliant figure who would follow orders without question," Okocha remarked. "We resisted, but Amaechi, who was then a minister, still had influence within the party."
Okocha further alleged that during the APC presidential primaries, Beke led the Rivers delegation of 56 delegates to support Amaechi, demonstrating the former minister’s continued sway over the party. "Their aim is to position Amaechi's man as the APC leader in Rivers State, enabling Amaechi to use the party as a platform to oppose President Tinubu in 2027," Okocha warned. "We will not let that happen."
