A teacher at Obada Idi-Emi High School in Ogun State is under investigation after the tragic death of a student, Monday Ariyo, who was allegedly beaten with 162 cane strokes on October 15, 2024. Activist Adetoun Onajobi reported that the student collapsed after being punished for making a joke about a dustbin.
Police later confirmed Ariyo died at a Federal Medical Centre, but noted that the punishment involved 24 cane strokes and 162 frog jumps. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
