Ogun car crash: OOU VC mourns death of 3 students
Olabisi Onabanjo University VC, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, expresses condolences to the families of students killed in a fatal road accident, offering support and prayers for the victims.
The Vice-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, has extended heartfelt condolences to the families of three students who tragically lost their lives in a fatal road accident on Friday.
The accident, involving a lone Opel Safira vehicle with license plate Lagos AAA-126HE, claimed the lives of Nifesimi Dada, a 300-level Geology student; Opeyemi Joshua, a 200-level Taxation student; and Ogooluwa Miracle Daniel, a 200-level Mass Communication student. Ogun State police spokesperson Omolola Odutola attributed the crash to excessive speed by the driver, identified as Adekunle Adebiyi.
Several other students injured in the crash were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
In a statement released by Wale Balogun of OOU’s Corporate Affairs Division, Prof. Agboola expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families during this incredibly difficult time. We can only imagine the unbearable pain and grief they must be experiencing.”
The university has pledged to collaborate with relevant authorities to provide necessary support and assistance to the bereaved families. Agboola further assured the public and the university community of OOU’s commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for its students and staff.
The Vice-Chancellor prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and strength for their families to bear the irreplaceable loss, emphasizing the shared grief and shock that continues to resonate within the OOU community.
