Official: Lesley Ugochukwu joins Southampton on a loan from Chelsea
Chelsea's young midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu has officially committed to a season-long loan with Southampton.
Lesley Ugochukwu, a young midfielder for Chelsea, has formally signed a season-long loan with Southampton. During his first season at Stamford Bridge, the 20-year-old, who joined the Blues from Rennes last summer, made 15 appearances, primarily as a substitute.
During Chelsea's preseason tour in the USA, Ugochukwu made an impression by scoring a goal against Wrexham and scoring a late equalizer in a friendly match at the Bridge against Inter Milan.
Ugochukwu was chosen to receive more first-team experience on loan by Chelsea due to the depth of their midfield, despite his impressive preseason displays.
Hopefully, Southampton, who won the Championship promotion playoffs and made a successful return to the Premier League, would provide Ugochukwu the chance to further his growth at the highest level of English football.
