“Not all singles are lonely and sad” – Toke Makinwa

Media personality and entrepreneur Toke Makinwa has set the record straight on a common societal misconception that equates being single with loneliness and misery.  

Addressing the topic on X, Makinwa, whose recent Thanksgiving party sparked rumors of an engagement, shared her thoughts on singlehood and personal fulfillment. She dismissed the idea that being without a partner automatically translates to unhappiness, emphasizing that a fulfilling life exists outside the bounds of a relationship.  

“It’s funny how people assume every single person is lonely,” she wrote. “You’d be surprised how many single people are content and genuinely happy. Don’t get me wrong, doing life with someone is great, but if you don’t find your purpose, you can still feel lonely—even in a relationship.”  

Makinwa called for a change in perspective as the new year approaches, urging people to stop projecting societal pressures onto others.  

“Leave that mindset in 2024,” she continued. “Not every single person is sad or miserable. In fact, many people in difficult situations secretly wish they were alone. Let people live their lives without judgment.”  

Her candid take highlights the importance of self-discovery and challenges societal norms that often undervalue individual happiness. As conversations around relationships evolve, Makinwa’s message serves as a reminder to embrace personal purpose above societal expectations.
